Gin, smoky and fruity. In Shannon Partrick’s Early Bird cocktail, the volcanic notes of Amaro dell’Etna are perfectly matched with overproof gin, fresh lemon and strawberry for a delicious, bittersweet punch.
1 strawberry, cut in half
.75 oz lemon juice
.5 oz simple syrup
1 oz Amaro dell’Etna
1 oz Sipsmith V.J.O.P.
Place an 8-10 oz glass in the freezer to chill and set aside one strawberry half for garnish
Add all remaining ingredients to a cocktail shaker and muddle the strawberry with the liquid
Fill the cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 1-2 seconds
Strain into the empty, chilled glass
Fill glass with crushed ice and garnish with reserved strawberry half
